Excellent excellent post you have here Anders. I’ll have to agree with Write a CV | Blogger in focusing on achievements.

Achievements are like gold mines in the eyes of a recruiter. It is a clear proof of how well you can do in the future organization that you’re joining.

Most of the recruiters will scan the CV only for 30 seconds and will be mainly looking for only your areas of expertise that benefit their organisation. What profit he /she will get in hiring you? That is the main concern for them. If the CV is in precise way with lots of relevant thing in it, recruiter will like to invest his/ her time on you and may give you a call for an interview. Hobbies & interest are not that need in a CV that’s what I feel.

As discussed on Reddit, there are differences between countries and regions on what should and shouldn't be included on the resume. As I commented, I have found interests to be useful information during interviews in the past, but I'm sure many people will recommend not including them since they are "irrelevant" and can potentially lead to rejection due to fear of allegations of discrimination or unfair treatment. My (revised) conclusion is that providing any such information is optional, and whether you should include it or not will depend on where you are applying.

I also recommend to list your hobbies and interests. They tell something about you as a person and it gives the interviewer a chance to “break the ice” and make you relax with some smalltalk. You might be surprised how often geeks (even geek bosses) share similar interests, also outside the domain of computers and natural sciences.”

I’m having debated opinions on this point. My question would be to what extent of your hobbies & interests would be deem acceptable in your CV?

Great post you have here. I would like also to add that in your CV’s it would also be good to lay down your achievements. This would entice the future employer of what value you can bring on board with them.
